Avon Cycles take the pride of being India’s most renowned bicycle brand. We always believe in helping poor and needy people. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the new name, but Avon Cycles has been in this field since 1973, when Nihal Singh Pahwa Charitable Hospital was established in Ludhiana and thereafter in 1998, Kaushalya Devi Pahwa Charitable Hospital at Hambran (Ludhiana) came up.
Under the corporate social responsibility, we have upgraded 3 schools in Ludhiana – Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Ambedkar Nagar; Govt. High School, Barewal; Govt. Primary School 7-B, BRS Nagar. Up-gradation of Barewal Awana school is under process. Not only this, solar plants have been installed at Vridh Ashram at Model Town Extn, and VRTC centre at Hambran Road; ambulance gifted to CMC hospital; graffiti painting at Giaspura & Partap Chowk fly-overs; medical camps at Kaushalya Devi Pahwa Charitable Hospital, Hambran are held regularly. Avon has been associated with NGO Salaam Zindagi for blood transfusion of thalassaemic patients. For safety of the general public, iron grills provided on Gill Canal; construction of main entry gates at Govt. College for Boys and Industrial Training Institute, Gill Road.
Today CSR activity is organized to encourage the students for their brilliant performance in Board exams. We are gifting 25 cycles to meritorious & needy students of Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Sr, Secondary High School; Guru Nanak High School, Janta Nagar, & Govt. High School, Barewal to appreciate & nourish their talent & performance. We took the pledge to continue this social drive ahead in future and also to spread the branches of this CSR activity in the selected cities of India in order to make it a nationwide event, said CMD, Mr. Onkar Singh Pahwa.
