Taking forward it’s initiative to upgrade the physical infrastructure of Government Schools, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) got the renovation of Government High School, Phullanwal done through one its member companies, FMI Limited.
The newly renovated School building consisting of 12 Classrooms, Principal Office with newly constructed Stage, Sewage Disposal Plant and Modern Toilets was formally inaugurated in the presence of Mr Pradeep Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Mr Manjinder Singh, Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council & Managing Director, Citizen Press Components, Mr Gaurav Sehgal, Vice Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council & Director, PYE Tools and Mr Baldev Singh, Convenor, CII City Development Core Group & Director, Amar Agricultural Implements Works besides the staff & students of the School and prominent Industry members from the city.
Lauding this initiative of CII member companies, Mr Pradeep Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana remarked, ”While our nation is one of the fastest developing economies in the world and is making rapid progress in various spheres, Education especially at school level is one of the sectors wherein a lot needs to be done and Industry certainly can play a meaningful role through such initiatives in ensuring that children of under privileged sections are provided quality education in a conducive environment which will help them become responsible citizens and contribute in nation building”.
On this occasion, Mr.Ajay Nayar, Past Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council & Managing Director, FMI Ltd shared his experience on how he managed to turn around the diaplated School building & infrastructure of this School through his firm belief that investment in Education Infrastructure especially at school level is one of the sectors wherein a lot needs to be done.
Making a fervent appeal to Industry leaders present on this occasion, Mr Manjinder Singh, Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council appealed to the industry to come forward and adopt more such schools & institutions which need support. He cited that one of primary reasons behind the dismal performance of Government Schools is the lack of proper infrastructure and conducive learning environment which can be taken care by industry through such initiatives.
Mr Baldev Singh, Convenor, CII Ludhiana City Development Core Group & Mr Neeraj Satija, Convenor, CII Punjab CSR Panel were the other key industry dignitaries who spoke on this occasion and exhorted the Industry to lend its support in nurturing & educating young children who are going to shape the destiny of our nation.
