Actor Anupam Kher will portray the role of Manmohan Singh in the cinematic adaptation of the book The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh. The book, written by Singh’s media advisor Sanjaya Baru, gave a detailed account of Manmohan Singh’s first tenure as prime minister and was highly critical of it.
National Award -winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta has confirmed that he will be writing the screenplay, and the movie will be Vijay Rutnakar Gutte’s directorial debut. Anupam Kher released the film’s first look poster on Twitter on Wednesday, remarking that he looks forward to the challenging role of Manmohan Singh.
He wrote, “To reinvent yourself as an actor is to challenge yourself. Looking forward to portraying #DrManmohanSingh in #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister.:)” and shared the poster with his followers. The film is slated to hit the theatres around December 2018.
