Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management Organised NSS Orientation for all the students of B.Com 1st Semester of the college with the objective to familiarize them to community service along with the college academic activities and to expose them to the realities of life, and bring about a change in their Social Perception, and make them Socially Responsible. The Motto of the NSS (National Service Scheme) is “Not Me But You” reflecting that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society as the whole. Under the guidance of Director Education Brigadier H S Bhandal, Principal Dr R L Behl, NSS Programme Officer Prof Meenu Goyal and Prof Jai Parkash the Student NSS coordinators Himanshu Garg, Jashan Grewal, Shagun Bharti, Chahat Kapoor, Ishpreet Kaur, Abheeti, Tanusha, Arshdeep, Savnoor and Simran Pandher made the presentations and shared the memories of NSS with the volunteers. To become the part of the Social Welfare Programs undertaken by the SACCM NSS Unit, more than 160 students have attended the NSS Induction Programme.
NSS volunteers and facilitators namely Yukta Verma, Ratandeep Singh, Prerna Jain, Aarushi, Amarjeet Singh, Damanpreet Kaur, Kirat Chhabra from B.Com 1st semester Section A, B and C respectively were also selected and were felicitated by the NSS Programme Officer Prof Meenu Goyal and Prof Jai Parkash. The college NSS Unit will carry out activities like One day/ 7 Day NSS Camps, Go Green Campaign (Tree Plantation drive), Visits to Old Age Homes and Bal Bhawan, Weeklong camp for ‘Ek-Prayas’- School for children with special needs, Exhibition cum Sale for Fund Raising for Ek-Prayaas and other NGO’s in Diwali days, Blood Donation Camp, Literacy Campaign, Health Awareness Lectures, Medical Checkup Camp, Giving back to Society Initiatives, Campus Cleanliness Drive, Road Safety and Traffic Awareness, Save Water and Electricity Drive, Street Smiles etc.
Prof Meenu Goyal and Prof Jai Parkash motivated the students by sharing with them that NSS is a journey of transformation of human being to being human. She shared her National Service experiences with the students. Prof Meenu Goyal and Prof Jai Parkash encouraged students to start serving the society and contributing towards the society building. The NSS volunteers made presentation and shared the activities organised by the College NSS Unit in the past. Students thanked the faculty and senior volunteers for inducting them to NSS.
