Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover‘s fights and reconciliations have always been the talk of the town. Just yesterday, both got into a nasty twitter banter and well, this time it is for sure that the two still have a long way to go before they become friends again.But, this is obviously not the first instance where their nasty fights have been out in the open. As everyone will remember, Kapil and Sunil started off together with Comedy Nights With Kapil. The show gave both of them immense popularity and the two went on to become great friends but that didn’t last very long. Let’s look at the timeline of Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover’s friendship through the years.
It all began in 2013 when Comedy Nights With Kapil premiered on TV. Soon, Kapil and his entire Sharma clan became a household name. but, apart from Kapil, one other character called Gutthi, played by Sunil Grover, became everyone’s favourite. It was all fine until the news came that Sunil might be leaving the show. While initially, reports stated that Sunil was leaving because his contract had expired, but later it was said that he had asked for a hike. And, well Kapil was reluctant to give it. Thus, the feud started. So they went their separate ways.
Sunil joined hands with Manish Paul and Gutthi came back as Chutki in Mad In India. But the show did not do well. In fact, he even faced a legal notice from the Comedy Nights With Kapil makers. Not that Kapil’s show was doing great either. Gutthi’s exit had terribly made the TRP’s fall. So what next? Of course, reconciliation.
The two realized that one won’t work with the audience without the other so they reunited and well, the audience was happy again. After Comedy Night With Kapil ended, the two walked in together on The Kapil Sharma Show. Gutthi became Kapil’s father-in-law, Dr. Gulati. Fans were extremely happy to see the two get back together and as a result, they again became an instant hit. But, it was all soon going go to sour again.
In 2017, Sunil’s film Coffee with D was set to release and he was already sure that the film will be promoted by Kapil on the show. But Kapil refused and once again the rivalry took birth. On screen, everything seemed fine but off screen, the two couldn’t even see eye to eye. And, then the fight on flight happened. Kapil abused Sunil on a flight journey and there were reports that he even threw his shoe at him. he only stopped when the other team members interrupted. Fans were in a shock.
Kapil took to Twitter to apologize and wrote, “Paji @WhoSunilGrover sry if I hurt u unintentionally.u knw vry well how much I luv u. M also upset .love n regards always:)”
To which Sunil replied, “Bhai ji! Yes, You hurt me deeply. Working with you has been a learning experience. Just one advice start respecting human beings also apart from animals. All are not as successful as you are. All are not as talented as you are. But if they all are talented like you, who will value you. So, have some gratitude towards their existence. And also, If someone is correcting you, don’t abuse that person. Refrain from using foul language in front of women who had nothing to do with the stardom you carry, they are by chance just traveling with you. Thanks for making me realise it was your show and you have power to throw out anybody, anytime. You are the wittiest, and the best in your field. But don’t act like a ‘God’. Take good care of yourself. Wish you lot more success and fame.”
Post this Sunil Grover never came back on the show and Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar too left soon. What followed was falling TRP’s and reduced popularity. Kapil soon gave in to alcoholism and started missing shows and coming late for shoots. This irked celebrities and promotions became less too. The show stopped and he went MIA. Later in the year when Sunil was asked about the possibility of getting back together with Kapil, he had hinted that he might but nothing was confirmed on record.
Cut to, two days ago Sunil confirming on Twitter that he was not approached for Kapil Sharma’s show and thus he won’t be seen with him. He even said that he is coming back on the TV with something new. Reacting to this, Kapil said,“Yes .. he is lying .. Sunil, too, replied to him asking him politely not to dig old graves. But Kapil didn’t stop there. He went on to call Sunil smart and himself an emotional fool.
Well, it is sure to say that their friendship is ruined for good now and although we really hope they mend their relationship, it looks bleak.
