Making Punjab Greener: EcoSikh conducts Tree-Plantation Training Seminar

In the wake of severe environmental crisis that plagues Punjab, EcoSikh Club conducted a volunteer induction meet at Gurudwara, Sarabha Nagar. More than 100 volunteers took part in the three-hour training session on tree-plantation, doing their bit for increasing environmental consciousness.

During the session, environmentalists spoke about the need to devise well-planned strategies to reduce air pollution. Volunteer plantations under the global campaign ‘550 Rukkh Guru de Naam’, were also discussed.

Handbook Launch

Dr. Lakhewali, a renowned environmentalist, delivered the technical session about selection of trees for variety of locations in the city. He placed special focus on a two-year nurturing plan for the trees. A handbook on the theme was also launched during the meet.

EcoSikh South Asia Project Manager Ravneet Singh talked about Guru Nanak’s teachings  to create a greener world and protect it. EcoSikh President India Supreet Kaur, reiterated the call to Sikh community worldwide to commemorate the 550th Nanak Gurupurab in 2019 by planting 1 million trees worldwide. Global President Dr. Rajwant Singh also sent a congratulatory video message and extended his best wishes to the volunteers in Punjab.
