Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh has taken an excellent start at the box office in the morning shows. The occupancy is the second best of the year after Salman Khan’s Bharat.
It looks like Shahid Kapoor may have struck gold with his latest release Kabir Singh, a Hindi remake of 2017 Telugu hit Arjun Reddy. The movie had everything going in its favour from the word go. The trailer had received a lot of love from the audience, the bearded look of Shahid had made his female fans go weak in their knees, the music has been a chartbuster with almost all the songs working big time with the listeners and the advance booking had been good.
Moreover, the early reviews of Kabir Singh were positive, however, now the critical response can now be termed as mixed. Nevertheless, the all-around positivity before the release has resulted in an excellent opening in terms of occupancy in the morning shows. So much so that it has taken a huge 50 per cent opening becoming the second highest of the year behind Salman Khan’s Bharat, according to a report in Box office India.
The report further suggests that the collections in the cities outside metros are outstanding. In places like Surat, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur, Ajmer and Latur, the opening can be termed as bumper. Kabir Singh is Shahid Kapoor’s widest release in terms of the number of screens which is 3123, in India. And is now heading towards becoming his highest day one opener beating 2015 dud Shaandaar, which had made Rs 13.10 crore. If the movie sustains throughout the day, it is heading towards a Rs 15 crore opening.
It will now all depends on the audience reaction and how much they like it. If the audience gives it a thumbs up, the movie will surely become Shahid Kapoor’s highest solo grosser.
