NO FEAR FOR OUTBREAK OF ANY EPIDEMIC IN DISTRICT LUDHIANA: CIVIL SURGEON

HEALTH SERVICES ARE EXTENDED TO THE AFFECTED AREAS ROUND THE CLOCK TO THE DOOR STEPS OF THE PEOPLE

-PACKETS OF O.R.S. AND CHLORINE TABLETS ARE DISTRIBUTED IN PLENTY

            Ludhiana, August 26 (000)-‘District Health Authorities had been on the heels since the floods played havoc in the state of Punjab and the situation in district Ludhiana is under control. Aftermath flood, there is no fear of outbreak of any epidemic in district Ludhiana.’ It was said by Dr. Rajesh Kumar Bagga, Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana in a press communiqué released here today.

            Dr. Bagga said that all doctors were immediately pressed on duty as they received the news of flood in district Ludhiana. He said doctors had been doing duty round the clock and all the crucial health services were being provided to the affected persons at their door steps. He said no case of vector borne disease had been noticed till now and the water level in the low lying areas had receded so there was no danger of outbreak of any epidemic in district Ludhiana.

            Civil Surgeon Dr. Bagga further said that the health department had set up permanent health camps in the most flood affected villages like Ghari Fazal, Bholewal Qadeem and Nawan Khaira Bait whereas 16 teams of doctors had been doing rounds in other affected villages.  He said that in each team besides a MBBS doctor there was one staff nurse, two peramedics had been included. He said that a roster of duty had also been made and the teams were available for service round the clock.

            He said that during flood situation only 550 patients had  come to take medicine. No case of skin infection had been reported. Department had stock of all the necessary medicines. He said that packets of O.R.S. and chlorine tablets were being distributed to the people in affected villages.  Dr. Bagga said that for any medical emergency in district Ludhiana one can contact at helpline number 0161-2444193.
