Ludhiana, September 16:
With an aim to eliminate anaemia, malnutrition and other health related problems amongst mothers, children and girls, September month is being celebrated as “Rashtriya Poshan Maah”. During this month, people would be made aware about these problems by different mediums in all blocks of district Ludhiana.
In this regard a Parbhat Pheri and Nukkad Natak were organised in the district. The parbhat pheri was organised in ward number 86 of the city, which was led by District Congress Committee (Urban) President Mr Ashwani Sharma, besides the Nukkad Natak named “Anmol Jeevan” was staged by Lok Kala Manch Faridkot at village Hedon (Dhahan) near Machhiwara Sahib.
SDO Mr Maninder Singh and Mr Arshpreet Singh, aanganwari workers, besides a large number of area residents participated in the Parbhat Pheri today. Mr Ashwani Sharma educated the residents about benefits of nutritious food along with daily activities.
It is pertinent to mention that during the month of September, women would be made aware about how to take care of their newly born children for first 1000 days, save themselves from anaemia, diarrhoea, nutritious food, right way of washing hand, and maintaining clean surroundings etc.
He said that meetings would be held with mothers, weight of children would be recorded, seminars/workshops regarding nutritious food would be organised, Poshan Mela’s would be organised, cycle rally, poshan walk, gram sabha, healthy recipe competitions, Prabhat pheri’s, hut bazaar, visit to houses, Naari Ki Chaupal, distribution of ORS packets, Jaago, different competitions of students, meetings with panchayats, workshops to make people aware about right way to wash hands etc.
During the Nukkad Natak at village Hedon, residents were educated about healthcare of pregnant women. The residents were also educate about Pradhan Mantri Vandana Yojana. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Sarpanch Mrs Monika Rani, Mr Sukhvir Singh, Mr Mangat Ram, Principal Mrs Sunita Rani, besides several others.
The Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Skill Development Department, Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Local Government Department, Youth Services Department, Education Department, Agriculture Department, Health and Family Welfare Department, Water Supply and Sanitation Department and Information & Public Relations Department is actively contributing in this campaign.
