ALL PRIVATE AND GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS TO PARTICIPATE IN RUBELLA MEASLES CAMPAIGN: ADDITIONAL DEPUTY COMMISSIONER

  • CAMPAIGN TO COVER 12.5 LAKH CHILDREN OF THE DISTRICT 
LUDHIANA, April 6 (CNI) Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Shena Agrawal on Friday ordered that all the private and government schools of the district have to participate devotedly in Rubella-Measles vaccination campaign, to make it a major success.
 
Ahead of the launching of the campaign on April 23, ADC chaired a meeting with heads of government and private schools along with officials of the health department and said that it is the responsibility of every school to play a proactive role in the campaign. 
 
She said that the three-week long campaign would cover 12.5 lakh children of the district. In first two weeks of the campaign, the school children would be covered while remaining would be administrated the vaccine in the last week, ADC added. 
 
She told that the schools should ensure that all the students falling in the age group of nine months to 15-years should be covered under this campaign.  He said that stern action would be taken against the erring school management. 
 
ADC motivated the school authorities to start sensitizing the parents of the students about this vaccination drive to save the children from measles and rubella by holding meetings with them. She said that the campaign would be carried out for five weeks out of which in two weeks immunization of school children would be done. 
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Civil Surgeon Dr. Parvinderpal Singh Sidhu, WHO SMO Dr. Gagan Sharma, District Immunization Officer Dr. Jasbir Singh, heads of government and private schools.
