AN EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO TIGER SAFARI AND LUDHIANA ZOO

A one day educational trip was organized by Department of Zoology and Environment Science, Khalsa College for Women, civil Lines, Ludhiana on 1st Feb, 2018. 85 students of B.Sc Medical stream visited Tiger Safari and Ludhiana Zoo. The students noticed the behavior and habitat of different animals like Barking Deer, Sambhar, Porcupine, Black Buck and various species of birds. They keenly observed the tiger in an enclosed van at Tiger Safari. The College has also adopted zoo animals (3 Peacocks and 1 Black Buck) in continuation with “Animal Adoption Scheme” with the monetary contribution from the teachers and students from all streams of the college. A cheque of Rs.8400/- is handed over to Member Secretary, Punjab Zoo Development Society, Ludhiana. Wild animals are the asset of Nation and are under continuous threat and it is our duty to protect them and save them from extinction. So, small efforts done in this regard can make a big difference for wildlife conservation. The Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts and motivated the staff and students for such future endeavours.
