The latest iteration of the S 1000 RR is very different from the outgoing model. To begin with, BMW Motorrad has done away with with those asymmetric headlamps and has fitted the bike with symmetric twin-headlight setup with LED DRLs. The turn indicators, which on the outgoing bike are placed on the fairing, are now located on the rear view mirrors and the new bike has also been made more compact by using a new chassis. Other changes on the bike involve sleeker fuel tank and wide handlebars. 2019 BMW S 1000 RR is also lighter by 11 kg than the outgoing bike.
Another major improvement on the S 1000 RR is with regards to the feature list, which, on this bike, is quite thick. The biggest highlight here is the 6.5-inch coloured TFT screen that can be controlled via the switch gear on the handle. This display provides the rider with all the necessary information and comes with a new Race Pro configuration mode and lap timer.
Safety provisions on the bike include a cruise control system, dynamic traction control system, BMW Motorrad’s switchable Race ABS, dynamic damping control system, and three different riding modes–Race, Sport, and Rain. Apart from this, the bike also gets disc brakes on either end.
BMW Motorrad has also improved the powertrain on its latest S 1000 RR. The sportsbike is propelled by an all-new 999 cc in-line four-cylinder engine coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine delivers a peak power of 204.16 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. To further enhance the performance, BMW has equipped the powerplant with Shiftcam technology for improved throttle response.
At a price range of ₹18.50 lakh- ₹22.95 lakh, the 2019 BMW S 1000 RR will face competition from rivals like Yamaha YZF R1, Suzuki GSX-R1000, and even Ducati Panigale V4 among other motorcycles.
