‘Box office hi toh important hai’: Diljit Dosanjh on how he views his Bollywood projects

Actor-Singer, Diljit Dosanjh is gradually becoming the new rising star that Bollywood has yielded. In a recent interview Diljit has expressed his views on films, box office and his experience in general in the Hindi film industry. He gets candid expressing his opinion and voicing words, that not a lot of people from the industry would have said as comfortably.

The Punjabi actor who is known for his exemplary cinematic work, in a recent interview with Hindustan Times gave an insight into his own psychology. Diljit takes competition in a healthy way and says that two films being released on the same day is not a problem for him. Sadaa, Diljit’s Punjabi film which was released on the same day as Kabir Singh, did not have Diljit worried. He mentioned how he was glad that the film did well in Punjab and Delhi. He calls himself lucky for the fact that when his films release in Punjab, people go and watch them.

Diljit also opened up on the fact that he isn’t in Bollywood to make friends and that he already has a close set of friends outside of the industry. He went on to reveal that he has maintained a good rapport with everyone he has worked with. He was quoted aying, “Main true friends banane nahi aaya iss industry mein, mere true friends already hain. Lekin jinke saath main kaam karta hoon, unke saath mere achhe equations hain.(I have not joined Bollywood to make close friends, I already have them. But whoever I have worked with over the years, I share a good equation with all of them),” Diljit said.

On being asked on his opinion on Bollywood being regarded as a ‘cut-throat’ world he responded that it wasn’t a bad thing actually and in fact, almost in every industry the scenario is similar.

He is excited for his upcoming release Arjun Patiala which also stars Varun Sharma and Kriti Sanon and said that while he had done movies on a serious theme in the past, he would be doing a lot of cinema this year that will do well commercially, calling this year as his ‘commercial year’.

Finall he wraped up his interview by saying “Box office hi toh important ha” and if the film is good, it should do well commercially. Diljit who was last seen in Soorma and Shadaa and will be seen in his upcoming movie Arjun Patiala and later in Good News with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Akshay Kumar.
