SRO just marked another proud moment in history as it launch its second mission to Moon, Chandrayaan-2 today on July 22, 2019.
The Chandrayaan-2 was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh on-board GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) Mark-III to head to the Moon’s South Polar Region. This is India’s second mission to the moon after Chandrayaan-1 mission, which was launched almost ten years ago.
As India basked in the glory of this proud moment, Indian Twitter took to social media to praise the space organisation’s efforts. While many called it a proud moment, others relived earlier space missions that were conducted by India through vintage pictures.
The rocket GSLV Mark-III, nicknamed Baahubali, is 43.4 metre tall and weighs 640 ton and will carry the 3.8-tonne Chandrayaan-2.
