American Heart Association train CTU students on Basic Life Support

Ludhiana, November 26, 2019: CT University’s (CTU) School of Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Sciences organised training cum workshop on ‘Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation’ (CPR) in which ‘American Heart Association’ team trained students and staff members about Basic Life Support (BLS) through demonstration using manikin.

The experts from American Heart Association namely Saurabh, Sunny Kaundal and Megha Kohli stated the whole process of CPR which included activation of emergency medical services, consciousness pulse, vitals, breathing patterns, rescue, artificial respiration, speed, proximity, bare chesting, emergency medicines to be used, depth of chest compressions, position of chest compressions, cooperation with emergency medical technicians, rapid response time, rules of golden hour, fails and complications of CPR.

Further, the team elaborated students about basics of giving CPR; a lifesaving technique useful in many emergencies, including a heart attack or near drowning, in which someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. This training must be accredited first-aid training course that includes CPR; giving hands on experience.

Dr Saurabh Sharma, Head of School of Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Sciences said, “The training session was conducted to enrich the healthcare students with techniques of basic life support and CPR that is pivotal part of community services in the emergency situations while performing day to day activities like cooking, bathing, lifting heavy objects, exercise, physical activities, sports, farming, airway obstruction, road side accident, etc leads to the requirement of basic life support

Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor, CTU congratulated the department and said, “Everyone should undergo the training of CPR that boosts the confidence of a person to transform from the role of bystander to lifesaver.”
