DC CALLS UPON HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO MAKE LUDHIANA A ‘HOME DELIVERIES’ FREE DISTRICT

Ludhiana, July 4 (CNI): In order to ensure safe delivery and reducing the cases of high-risk pregnancy, the deputy commissioner (DC) Pradeep Kumar Agrawal has asked the health department to make the Ludhiana a home deliveries free district.

Chairing a meeting of district health society at Bachat Bhawan, the deputy commissioner said that there is need to have an effective and multi-pronged strategy to bring down the home deliveries to zero level.

He told civil surgeon Dr. Parvinder Pal Singh Sidhu to depute more ASHA workers in such areas having cases of the home deliveries and start an awareness drive thereby engaging any social organization or NGO to motivate the families for institutional deliveries.

Agrawal said that health teams must visit the houses where the families preferring home deliveries and build their trust in the health department either through special meetings, short movies or examples.

However, DC patted on the back of health officials for 94 percent institutional deliveries but said that remaining figure of six percent home deliveries also needed to be wiped out completely.

He further lauded the hard work of health officials in successfully running Measles Rubella campaign in the Ludhiana.

Agrawal told that department must organize more free annual preventive health checkup camps so that all 30-plus citizens can be covered.

He stated that the government is committed to providing safe food, safe water under mission Tandrust Punjab to all citizens and asked the health department to intensify checking drive of chemist shops and collect more milk, water, and food samples.

On the occasion, District Immunization Officer Dr. Jasbir Singh, Dr. Manjeet Singh, and others were present.
