DC CONDUCTS SURPRISE VISITS OF MINING VULNERABLE SITES INSTRUCTS OFFICIALS TO CURB ILLEGAL MINING

LUDHIANA, March 15 (CNI): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mr. Pradeep Kumar Agrawal and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mr. Ashwani Kapur along with a battery of senior officials conducted surprises visits of mining vulnerable sites in various villages of the district on Thursday morning.

At first, DC, DCP, Sub-Divisional Magistrates Mr. Amarjeet Singh Bains, Mr. Damanjeet Singh Maan spotted overloaded tippers loaded with gravel and sand in Rayian village near Macchiwara and checked the documents. DC quizzed the drivers about the capacity of the tippers and asked them to show the documents failing after he told the police officials to take action accordingly.

Then, DC and officials’ teams reached Chak Donga village, near banks of Sutlej River and inspected mining site there. He also checked a site that was falling under the jurisdiction of SBS Nagar district alongside the river.

Later, the team led by DC also visited the mining sites in Sekhewal and Garhi Tarkhana and held talks with the officials there on measures to ensure a complete check on any type of unauthorized activity.

He said that no one will be allowed to take the law into their hands and asked the officials to take strict action against those involved in unauthorized mining.

On this occasion, District Industries Centre General Manager Amarjeet Singh, ADCP-IV Rajveer Singh Boparai, ACP Sahnewal Harkamal Kaur and officials from drainage and revenue departments were also present.
