DC REVIEWS IMPLEMENTATION OF POSHYAN ABHIYAN AND OTHER SCHEMES

LUDHIANA, April 10 (CNI): Aimed to make the district malnutrition free by giving focused attention, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mr. Pradeep Kumar Agrawal on Tuesday took an important meeting to review the implementation of Poshan Abhiyan (National Nutrition Mission) and other schemes covering the aspects of nutrition at district administrative complex. 
 
The other schemes include Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojna, Anganwari Services, National Crèche Scheme, Scheme of Adolescent Girls, National Health Mission, Rashtriya Bal Swasth Karyakaram, Mid-Day Meal and Swachh Bharat Mission.
In the meeting, DC asked the heads of education, health and social security, women and child departments to regular coordinate with each other for the effective implementation of the schemes. He said that a sensitization drive would be started in Anganwari centres to ensure proper nutrition for the children.
 
He called Poshan Abhiyan (National Nutrition Mission) scheme, one of a revolutionary program to improve the nutritional indicators of women and children and motivated the officials to leave no stone unturned to make the district malnutrition free. 
 
DC also told District Program Officer (DPO) Rupinder Kaur to ensure that out of school adolescent girls (11-14 years old) must be admitted to the schools as soon as possible. 
 
DPO told that number of awareness seminars, workshops, Poster-making competitions Prabhat Pheris and meetings with the pregnant women and mothers were held in the villages through the panchayats during the previous months under the scheme. 
 
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Shena Aggarwal, Deputy Director (Local Government) Shiv Kumar, officials from education, health, public health, PEDA departments were also present. 
 
Ludhiana is among the four districts of the state where Poshan Abhiyan (National Nutrition Mission) was launched. The other districts are Sri Muktsar Sahib, Faridkot, and Mansa in Punjab.
 
It is pertinent to mention that The ministry of women and child development has ordered quarterly monitoring the implementation of Poshan Abhiyan and even fixed the dates for the review meetings that including January 10, April 10, July 10 and October 10 of each year to address the implementation of schemes, especially Integrated Child Development Services.
