Ludhiana, September 1:

The Electors Verification Programme (EVP), which seeks to update electoral rolls in a much easier way, was launched in district Ludhiana, here today. A function in this regard was held at Bachat Bhawan, here, in which Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal was the Chief Guest.

He informed that under the programme, the voters can get their votes verified by using the “Voter Helpline” mobile app or by logging into NVSP portal, www.nvsp.in, or by contacting the Common Service Centres. He stated that this programme has been launched today and would continue till October 15, 2019.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that if the voters want to make any changes in their electoral roll, he/she can fill form number 8 online and can upload the supporting documents such as Indian Passport, Driving license, Aadhar Card, Ration Card or any other document approved by the Election Commission of India, online. If any vote is to be deleted in case of change of residence or death, then form number 7 is to be filled, 

Once the documents are uploaded, these details will then be verified by block level officers (BLOs) till October 15, 2019. The main aim behind this programme is also to empower voters to assess electoral roll details, self-authenticate and then get mistakes rectified, if any, he said.

He further said that those, who would become eligible to get registered as a voter as on January 1, 2020, can also apply now by filling form number 6 online and uploading the supporting documents.

ADC (Jagraon) Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta, Election Tehsildar Mrs Anju Bala, besides several others were also present on the occasion.
