Emerging Trends in Software Engineering Discussed at GGNIMT

The Computer Applications Department of GGNIMT (Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology ), Civil Lines organized an expert talk for the students of BCA and MCA on the topic “ Contemporary Issues in Software Engineering” here today.

Dr. Hardeep Singh, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, GNDU, Amritsar was the resource person for the day. Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT welcomed the guest and expressed the need for such ‘beyond the book sessions’.

Dr. Hardeep Singh discussed in length the upcoming trends in the software industry and motivated the students to make themselves abreast with the ever evolving technologies. He pointed out that the latest technologies bring along its own share of challenges. Elaborating it, he said that  the size and complexity of the software is growing many folds and pace of software change is very high as a result there is a major dearth of skilled manpower to code and manage software based on recent trends.

He explained in detail the concept behind ‘Big Data’, ‘Systems of Systems’ and ‘Internet of Things’. He exhorted ,” Whatever be the trend, at the end of the day, customer satisfaction is the key and one way to ensure customer is satisfied is by repeatedly innovating and ensuring the product being delivered reflects the best of what’s happening in the ever-evolving field.”

Prof. Satinderjit Singh, Head, Dept of Computer Applications , GGNIMT wrapped up the expert’s discussion and encouraged the students to equip them with the required skill set to do well in IT field.
