FARMERS AND FARM WOMEN ATTEND PAU KISAN CLUB MEET

 JUNE 7 LUDHIANA Agricultural scientists deliberated on successful cultivation of summer vegetables, silage making and management of milch animals in summers during the monthly training camp of PAU Kisan Club, held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. In all, 412 farmers and 45 farm women participated in the camp, organized under the guidance of Dr J.S. Mahal, Director of Extension Education, PAU. Dr H.S. Verma, Director of Extension Education, GADVASU, also interacted with the farmers. The Coordinator of the club, Dr T.S. Riar, in his welcome address, Underlined the need for forming farmer producer organizations (FPOs) for market accessibility and profitability. He informed the farmers were also equipped with preventive health measures to be taken during summer season. Dr U.S. Tiwana, fodder expert and Dr Kuvir Singh, vegetable science expert, PAU, Dr Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator of Women’s wing of the club, said the home science experts demonstrated the preparation of seasonal snacks and fruit drinks. A progressive farmer Jaswinder Singh shared his experience of integrated pest management in crops. The President of the club, Manpreet Singh Grewal proposed a vote of thanks.
