Ludhiana (22 Jan)Recent years have seen a flurry of cultural and literary activities in Ludhiana, once known only for its industrial conglomerates. Among various initiatives taken by writers, poets and artists living in Ludhiana and looking for fellowship with likeminded, Inkslingers has emerged as a promising platform. Started almost a year ago, Inkslingers offers a platform for neophytes as well as seasoned poets to share their thoughts and their creative expressions. Parveen Sethi, Sukriti Sharma and Kumar Shantanu all Bilingual poets and authors and the founding members of the group Inkslingers say that while Punjabi literature has a lot of space in Ludhiana, we, the writers and poets writing in other languages such as Hindi or English struggle to carve a niche for ourselves. Inkslingers provides not only a great platform for sharing creative endeavours but also ensures an environment conducive for the growth of local talent. Belonging to various walks of life and varied age groups, most members of the group connected with each other through social media like Facebook and other local cultural events and now gather every third Sunday of the month to exchange notes and enjoy a poetic soiree. Nalini Priyadarshni, a poet from the city writing in English believes that writing is a lonely affair but encouragement and appreciation of likeminded and knowledgeable peers make it worthwhile. The group is a mixture of some very well published and some amateur poets. Present yesterday from among them were Lalit Sharma ,a successful industrialist with a flair for writing ,
Jaspreet Kaur Falak , Deep Jagdeep, Amritpal S Gogia , Dr. Khushveen ,Dr.Jas Kohli , Madam Jagdish kaur ,and Mr Saleem all of them noted Academicians and published poets along with them were Sweety Ajrawat and Young talent like Purnima Monga , Natasha Sharma, Falak Verma , Kumar Saurabh , Sreisha Pathak and Kanav . Inkslingers has successfully filled the void long felt by creative minds of the city. However, Inkslingers is not going to rest on their laurels and planning to expand the boundaries of their activities to enrich the literary culture of the city.
