‘IT COURSE FOR POLICE EMPLOYEES’ CONCLUDES AT GGNIMT

GGN Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines  in association with Punjab Police Commissionerate organized a Certificate Distribution Ceremony on the successful completion of a two months course on “Basic IT Skills” for the Punjab Police Employees at GGNIMT campus here today. This is the brain child of Police commissioner R.N. DHOKE, IPS, with whose initiative around 500 punjab police personal have been trained at different locations so far.

  1. Jasvir Singh, ADCP, Head Quarters- Ludhiana was the Chief Guest for the day while Mrs. Rupinder Kaur, ACP, Head Quarters, Ludhiana was the Guest of Honor.
  2. Gursharan Singh Narula, President, GKEC welcomed the Guests and acknowledged the efforts of the Institute in imparting the necessary computer skills. Dr. S. P Singh, Former VC, GNDU expressed immense delight and appreciated the willingness and zeal of the police employees, who learnt a new skill and practiced it on a regular basis for about 60 days. He said the participants belonged to the age group of 30 -50 years, an age that generally resists new environment and learning but the trainer did not even an iota of reluctance was visible.

Mr. Puneet Jindal, Assistant Professor, GGNIMT while highlighting the course details said that about 30 employees attended the course that was divided into two modules. The first Module stressed on the fundamentals of Computer, Internet , Ms Word and Ms Excel, while the second module focused on making them practice typing in English and Punjabi.

Chief Guest S. Jasvir Singh while addressing the gathering said that emails, website updates, blogs and other forms of digital communication have become some of the primary forms of communication in police departments, allowing for the rapid exchange of ideas and other information that can be critical in many investigations. Elaborating further on the applications of Computer in the Police Department, he said that

Police departments utilize computers in police vehicles. Computers make it possible for mobile police units to look up information, run license plates and find locations while on the road. Considering the indispensable role of computers, S. Jasvir Singh said that Computer Literacy is a must for every individual.

He applauded the efforts of the Institute in organizing this course and meeting the expectations of the Police Department.

Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT said in this digital era, with all the services available at the click of a button, it is very important to be aware of the basic computer skills. He said that the nuances learnt during this course would not only enable these police employees to operate computers with ease, it will help them to perform efficiently at their work as well.

Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT proposed a vote of Thanks. He expressed gratitude towards the Guests for sparing their valuable time and gracing the occasion. He hoped that the association between GGNIMT and the Punjab Police Department will continue to grow with time and the Institute will be happy to serve the department.
