JOINT DELEGATION OF LOK SABHA MP, TWO MLAs, AND DC MEETS UNION ROAD, TRANSPORT, HIGHWAYS MINISTER NITIN GADKARI, DISCUSSES VARIOUS ROAD PROJECTS

LUDHIANA, JANUARY 3 – A joint delegation of  Member of Parliament (LOK SABHA) Ravneet Singh Bittu, Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) Sanjay Talwar from Ludhiana East and Payal MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Aggarwal on Wednesday met union road, transport and highway minister Nitin Gadkari and discussed various road projects in the city for ease of traffic.

The proposed projects include construction of an elevated road of 4-km on Chandigarh road from Samrala Chowk to Fortis Hospital and a flyover at Kohara Chowk to solve the traffic congestion problem.

They also proposed the construction of the Northern Bypass starting from NH-44 at Sutlej River passing through North-Eastern part of District Ludhiana ending at Neelon (NH-95) as it will integrate the Southern and Western Bypass.

They told the minister that it will not only ease the traffic congestion but it will also complete ring road of Ludhiana, eliminate the need to pass through the city of Ludhiana and also facilitate planned urbanization and Industrialization of the backward area of North Eastern part of the district along the Sutlej River.

Further, a proposal of up-gradation of canal road from Manpur Headworks (Doraha) to Jagron-Raikot road was also made. This proposed project starts from newly constructed  Southern Byepass at Manpur Headworks (Doraha) (NH-44) and ends at Junction of canal road with Jagraon-Raikot road (Newly declared NH) having a total length of 51.13 KM connecting NH-44 and NH-95. 

This proposed road project would ease the traffic load on the roads towards Ludhiana city making an outer Southern Byepass.

Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Aggarwal said that soon a high-level team of ministry would visit the city to prepare a report on the proposed projects
