Major fire breaks out near Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj Metro, Magenta Line services affected.
A major fire broke out at the furniture market near Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj metro station early on Friday morning. The massive fire disrupted services on the Magenta Line metro for several hours. Services have resumed now.
Seventeen fire tenders were rushed to the spot in Kalindi Kunj. The fire was reported around 5:55 am and it is yet to be doused down.
The reason behind the huge fire is not known yet.
Delhi Metro services on the Magenta Line were widely affected due to the fire during peak hours. The DMRC issued a statement to advise passengers to take the Blue Line to reach Noida instead of Magenta Line, which was disrupted for several hours.
Fire officials said no injuries have been reported in the incident so far. The fire has been brought under control after it raged for several hours in the morning.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a statement and said train services between Jasola Vihar and Kalindi Kunj were halted for a few hours because of the smoke.
“Train movement has been stopped temporarily between Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh and Kalindi Kunj due to smoke and fire from a fire underneath the section. We regret the inconvenience,” DMRC wrote on Twitter in the morning.
It later added, “Short loops are being run between Janak Puri West and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh. No service between Kalindi Kunj and Botanical Garden temporarily.”
Train services have resumed between Botanical Garden and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh.
