Wednesday, as Sri Lanka declared that the death toll in Sunday’s serial blasts has mounted to 359, a special task force has conducted a controlled blast in the country’s capital after spotting a suspicious motorbike.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has admitted that the country had prior intelligence about attacks being planned on the island nation. Two days after the devastating serial blasts that killed over 350 people, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.

Sri Lanka observed national mourning on Tuesday and remembered the deceased with 3-minute silence across the country at 8:30 am, the exact time when the first bomb was detonated.

Mass burials marked the day in Sri Lanka even as national leaders pledged to take action against the lapses that led to the devastation.
