Ludhiana, August 2:

To keep our district Polio Free, the Health & Family Welfare Department will launch a special pulse polio campaign for children between 0-5 years of age belonging to the migratory population from August 5-9, 2018. District Immunisation Officer Dr Jasbir Singh informed that although India is declared polio free, but some cases are still coming in neighbouring countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, and even in Nigeria.

He informed that polio vaccine drops would be administered to all children between the age of 0-5 years in Ludhiana city, Sahnewal and Koom Kalan blocks. He informed that the population of children between the age of 0-5 years in district is around 375991 and this population can increase or decrease keeping in mind the migratory population.

Dr Jasbir Singh informed that the drive would be carried out from August 5-9, 2018 in urban areas and from August 5-7, 2018 in rural areas of the district. He informed that a total of 1641 teams have been formed for this purpose, out of which 79 are mobile teams, 54 transit teams and 1508 teams would cover the population door to door. He said that the migratory population residing in slums and brick kilns would be specially covered. He appealed the resident to assist the Health Department in carrying out this drive successfully.
