-DISTRICT TO WITNESS 9 LAKH MT WHEAT PROCUREMENT THIS SEASON
Ludhiana , April 21 (000)-Wheat procurement is going smoothly in Ludhiana district as the punjab government has already paid Rs . 378.53 crore to the farmers against wheat procurement till April 20.
Deputy Commissioner Mr . Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said that the district administration has made elaborate arrangements for wheat procurement and till April 20 , 447711 MT wheat has arrived in various grain markets in the district , out of which 416550 MT has been procured by various food grain agencies .
He said that the district administration has ensured the lifting and payment of procured wheat in time bound manner as per the instructions of punjab government.
Talking about the procurement targets , deputy commissioner said that it was fixed at 9 Lakh MT against the 8.46 lakh MT previous year .
He also said that all state agencies and FCI are purchasing wheat in allocated grain markets and MARKFED has procured maximum 101378 MT wheat . Besides that PUNGRAIN has purchased 100060 MT, PUNSUP 68306, Warehouse 46448, Punjab AGRO 36308, FCI 60992 and private traders have procured 3158 MT wheat .
Deputy commissioner has also informed that the administration has walked an extra mile for smooth and timely lifting of procured wheat and 115857 MT wheat lifted till April 20.
