Ludhiana, September 9 (000)-For providing disaggregated information on various operational and structural aspects of all establishments in the country, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is carrying out the 7th Economic Census in the year 2019. The economic census gives insights on the economic activities being carried out across the country, their geographical distribution, the number and distribution of workers, types of ownership and sources of finance. It covers all structures across the country, whether residential or commercial.
The fieldwork on 7th Economic Census for district Ludhiana started today. Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal flagged off the teams from District Administrative Complex.
While providing information, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, District Economic Census Commission Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal stated that this time. Common Service Centres (CSC) e-Governance Services India Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, would be the implementing agency for 7th Economic Census (EC). The training of field officers, supervisors and other staff to be involved in this census has already been organised. He informed that the participants were trained on the key concepts and definitions, processes, digital platform and application to be used for the enumeration (data capture and supervision) in the field.
He said that as per various sections of Collection of Statistics Data Act 2008, data would be collected through a door to door survey of every household and commercial establishment. He said that the data would be kept secret and it would be used only for framing of policies and welfare schemes by the state government.
He stated that data collected by the field staff would be verified by supervisors by visiting every household and commercial establishment. He said that for the benefit of field staff as well as residents, a toll-free number 180030003468 has also been started, besides a helpdesk in regional language has also been set up. A special web page http://mospi.nic.in/7theconomic-census on the ministry website has also been developed. The Deputy Commissioner has appealed the residents and commercial establishments of district Ludhiana to assist the field staff for the 7th Economic Census work.
