Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT) in association with Punjab & Sind Bank organized a motivational seminar on “ My Vision: Corruption Free India” as a part of ‘ Vigilance Awareness Week’ here today.
Dr. D.J Singh, Former Dean & Joint Director, Punjab Police Academy , Phillaur was the Chief Guest for the day. S. Gursharan Singh Narula, President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council welcomed the worthy Guests on the occasion.
“Corruption and dishonesty have tarnished every fabric of our social life”, said Dr. D. J Singh while inspiring the youth to lead a life of integrity and truthfulness. He mentioned that during the past few years, the image of our country has been defaced beyond redemption. He exhorted that it is the duty of every citizen to abide by the laws and raise their voice against the corrupt behavior. Dr. Singh shared many anecdotes to highlight that the money gathered through dishonest means only brings in pain , sufferings and repentance.
S. Virinderjit S. Virk , Zonal Manager , Punjab & Sind Bank was the Guest of Honour. “The continuous increase in the appetite of people for money, power, position and luxury is making the situation worse”, said Mr. Virk while sharing his concern on the topic.
Dr. S. P Singh, Former VC, GNDU and Hony. Gen. Secretary, GKEC while expressing his views said that corruption has taken its roots deeply in the minds of the people from all walks of life. He further pointed out that it is a very common poison in the society since ancient time. He cautioned the gathering by remarking that corruption is reaching to its new height, affecting the minds of people to a great extent such that they are greedily indulging in lot of wrong doing for their selfish interests.
Mr. Anoop Singh Chawla, Lead Bank, Divisional manager, P & S Bank delivered the concluding remarks. He motivated the youth to understand their responsibilities. He made them all pledge to abide by the laws and neither take nor offer any sort of bribe to anyone ever.
Prof. Manjit S. Chhabra, Director , GGNIMT sensitized the youth by saying that the nation belongs to its youth as they are the makers of tomorrow. He said “What they do today will reflect in the society tomorrow. To live in a society, that is corruption free, we need people with quality, of mind and thoughts. If those people come forward to build a strong nation, our dream of a corruption free society is never far away.”
Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal GGNIMT proposed the vote of thanks. He remarked that firm steps are needed to curb the menace and an atmosphere has to created where the good, patriotic, intellectuals come forward to serve the country with pride, virtue, and honesty for the welfare of the people of India.
