The NSS Unit of Sri Aurobindo College along with volunteers of Sahayaks Welfare And Assistance Society organized a visit to Red Cross Society, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana. This NSS visit has been organised under the guidance of Director Education Brigadier H S Bhandal, Principal Dr R L Behl, Professor Meenu Goyal, Professor Jai Parkash by NSS Core Committee of volunteers Ashu Bansal (Alumni SACCM), Simran Pandher, Arshdeep Singh. Professor Meenu Goyal addressed the students and made them realize that they should feel blessed and also they must pass on whatever they think is in surplus with them. Prof Jai Parkash told students that the objective behind organizing this visit was to make them understand the community and society and also develop a sense of social and civic responsibility and belongingness. With this view in mind the team of volunteers from the college visited the Bal Bhawan and Senior Citizen Bhawan to spend some time with them. The students brought fruits, Biscuits, Chocolates, Stationery items for children and senior citizens. Volunteers conducted Drawing, english writing, singing and dance competitions for Bal Bhawan kids. Children movie was shown to kids. Prizes were given to all students who participated to encourage them for future. Senior citizens shared their good and bad experiences of life and also shared some light moments with the NSS volunteers. Students realized many facts and faces of real life. Professor Jai Parkash explained students that Senior citizens are living there for different personal reasons. Some of them want to be free from responsibilities and live life freely. Some are there due to their social and economic reasons. Students came to know about the conflicts and problems of youth with elder people due to generation gap and importance of adjustments compromise and cooperation. The volunteers met children in Bal Bhawan. Some children have their parents but due to poor economic condition the children were staying there.
