Bollywood actor Sridevi passed away in Dubai on Saturday night after a cardiac arrest at the age of 54. She was in the UAE with the entire Kapoor family to attend the wedding ceremony of Mohit Marwah and Antara Motiwala. Her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor confirmed the news to indianexpress.com, “Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away. I just landed here, I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened roughly around 11.00-11.30. I don’t know more details yet.”
Her demise came as a surprise to everyone as she had been fit and hale and hearty. A source close to the family revealed to BollywoodLife, “Sridevi was not ailing of any major sickness which is why this news is so shocking. She has been fit and hale and hearty for a long time. She suffered a massive cardiac arrest in Dubai where she was on a short break and passed away after doctors could not bring her back. This was something that no one expected.”
Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi were with her as the actress breathed her last. Her elder daughter Janhvi couldn’t not be with her during her last moments as she was shooting in Mumbai for her debut film, Dhadak. Sridevi decided to extend her stay in Dubai following the wedding, while Boney and Khushi came back to Mumbai. The source further reveals, “Boney went back to Dubai yesterday to surprise her. However, she suffered a cardiac arrest and was announced dead by the doctors.”
Meanwhile, Boney is making arrangements for the body to be brought back to India. Sridevi’s mortal remains are expected by Cargo or private jet at cargo airport terminal between 12 pm to 2 pm today, according to Mumbai International Airport officials. Well-wishers are also heading to the Kapoor house in Mumbai to be by her daughters, Janhvi and Khushi’s side.
