TERNATIONAL BIODIVERSITY WEEK CELEBRATED, 2400 STUDENTS TAKE PART IN VARIOUS COMPETITIONS ADMINISTRATION TO FERRY 120 STUDENTS IN MATTEWARA FORESTS, TIGER SAFARI FOR ENHANCING PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE

LUDHIANA, MAY 28 (CNI): Considering the involvement of youth is vital for the conservation of biodiversity, the district administration celebrated International Biodiversity week in which series of competitions were organized in 30 government senior secondary and high schools of the district.

Divulging the information, additional deputy commissioner (Development) Shena Aggarwal told that a total of 2400 students of 9th and 10th classes took part in various competitions including speech, essay writing, quiz, declamation, and painting and other held on various issues concerning biodiversity.

 She disclosed that 120 students have been selected out of 2400 students who will be taken to Mattewara Forests and Tiger Safari on May 30 by the administration where they will enhance their knowledge over the subject by visiting these places and interacting with the officials there.

The arrangements of transports have already been made, she said and added that the refreshment will also be given to them.

ADC also informed the teachers will also accompany in three buses and these will start from Shaheed E Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Bharat Nagar at 7 am.

Aggarwal told that the district level biodiversity management committee has been reconstituted and it will continue to hold such events for the promotion of biodiversity in the district.
