Team India captain Virat Kohli tied the nuptial knot with long-term girlfriend Anushka Sharma on December 11 to leave the fans stunned and although social media had been flooded with their pictures, the latest one to hit the internet was their snow-filled honeymoon picture. While fans absolutely loved the pic, they couldn’t help themselves relating it to the fantasy dram television series Game of Thrones.
Though there was confirmation that the newlywed couple would head to South Africa to celebrate their honeymoon after throwing two reception parties in Delhi and Mumbai, respectively, a report claimed that Virat and Anushka headed to Rome in Italy itself before returning to India.
It was Anushka who shared the picture with husband Kohli and though the couple have stayed away from expressing their affection for each other on social media, it was the first time the actress shared a post featuring the love of her life. The beautiful click was captioned, “In heaven, literally”. Within minutes of being posted, the picture went viral and crossed over two lakh likes in the first 20 minutes itself.
Twitteratis found quite many similarities between the picture uploaded by Anushka and Game of Thrones, with many even suggesting that if a Hindi version of the show as to be made, the couple would fit in just perfectly.
“Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey,” the couple said in identical Tweets, confirming the news of their wedding.
The celebrity couple, who had been dating for four years, were tight-lipped about their wedding plans despite the hype in the media. The couple had first met on the sets of a commercial and have had several ups and down in their relationship since. They have been one of the most talked about celebrities amongst fans and there was huge excitement as soon as the reports of them tying the knot in Italy started surfacing.
In a statement by Anushka’s representative, the couple said they will shift to their new residence in Worli, Mumbai later this month.
