Ludhiana, March 13:
In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, a voter awareness camp under the SVEEP activities of Election Commission of India, was organised at Khalsa College for Women, Ghumar Mandi, here today. On the orders of Deputy Director Local Bodies-cum-ARO Ludhiana West, the camp was conducted by Nodal Officer Mr Lakhwinder Singh Sandhu.
A question-answer session was conducted to answer the queries of students. The girl students performed Gidha and Jaago to appeal the voters to cast their votes. Students were made aware regarding the working of EVM and VVPAT & mock poll was also conducted to apprise them of the process of casting and counting of votes.
Students also organised a rally to encourage public to vote. Principal Prof. Mrs Mukti Gill, Programme Incharge Prof. Khushdeep Kaur and Nodal Officer Mr Lakhwinder Singh Sandhu flagged off the rally. Supervisor Mr Sukhwinder Leel, Mr Baljit Singh, Mr Surinder Bansal with their teams of BLOs were also present.
Mr Lakhwinder Sandhu stated that new voters are being encouraged to cast their vote and apprised about the working of EVM & VVPAT by organising such events, in which the students showed keen interest.
Mr Lakhwinder Singh Sandhu told that such awareness camps are being organised in Ludhiana West constituency to create awareness among voters. Mr Sandhu thanked the principal and staff members of the school for their cooperation for successful conduct of the camp
