Ludhiana ( 2nd April ) Under the guidance of Women Next Door ( WND ), Women Next Door Youth ( WND Youth ) & digital partner City needs did a Marchpast at the Sunview Enclave Market on April 2nd at 5 pm. The young students & adults approx. 70 in number ,all dressed in white T-shirts and blue jeans were holding various placards all conveying the same message of Menstrual Hygiene. The purpose of this March is to spread awareness towards MENSTRUAL HYGIENE.
This project has been undertaken by the WND because of the fact highlighted by UNICEF that 71% adolescent girls in India remain unaware of menstruation till their first period & feel there is an urgent need to break the taboo surrounding menstrual hygiene as the lack of it can be harmful to women.
Breaking the taboo , the youth wing has taken the initiative to organize this marc. This is also a shout out for a flag off event going to happen on 4th April 2022 , at the Ishmeet Singh Auditorium at 11 am. The chief guest of the event Mrs. Rajinder Kaur Cheena ( MLA) ,
the guest of honor Ludhiana DC Mr. Varinder Sharma , District Education officer Ms. Jaswinder Kaur has kindly given the event their consent and support . Various other prominent members of the society from all spheres of life , the business women , the teachers and people dealing in working for the welfare of the society .
Vice Chairperson shared youth really took this initiative wholeheartedly and wish to break the taboo. Chairperson Shruti Mentioned its really encouraging that the administration is supporting us in the cause . Dr. Sangita B Kushwaha & Mannat Kothari together shared that they’re really proud of the youth for taking this cause and today’s event . All the members wholeheartedly participated in the event.
