Chinese smartphone major Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi 7A in the Indian market today. There will be a soft launch for the Redmi 7A which means there will be no launch event, but the smartphone will be introduced and launched via a video live stream.
The launch event will start off at 12 PM. Those interested can watch it live on Xiaomi India’s official YouTube channel. The livestream video can also be watched from the below-embedded video. The Xiaomi Redmi 7A will be the latest addition to the Xiaomi Redmi India’s lineup of budget smartphones. Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain had earlier tweeted that the Redmi 7A will arrive in India with a massive feature upgrade also found on the Redmi Note 7 and the Mi A2. Xiaomi has also, on its website, confirmed that the Redmi 7A will arrive with a 12-megapixel primary Sony IMX486 camera sensor. Also, the Redmi 7A has been tipped to arrive with a single-camera setup.
The Xiaomi website also confirmed the fact that the Redmi 7A will be powered by the Snapdragon 439 chipset and will feature a 4000mAh battery. The specs here are similar to the Redmi 7A China variant.
The Redmi 7A was launched in China first and was announced at a starting price CNY 549 (roughly Rs 5,500) for the basic 2GB RAM model. In India, we expect the smartphone to be available at around Rs 6,000.
Looking at the specifications, the Redmi 7A features a 5.45-inch (720×1440 pixels) HD+ display with 2.5D curved glass and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 439 Mobile Platform and comes with 2GB of RAM. It runs on Android Pie with MIUI 10 and supports dual-SIM. For cameras, the smartphone sports a 13-megapixel single camera sensor at the back with PDAF and LED flash. At the front, there’s a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Similar to other smartphones from Xiaomi, the Redmi 7A also comes with P2i nano-coating making its splash resistant. It weighs 150 grams and measures 9.55 thick. The 7A will pack a 4000mAh battery.
