Days after the derailment of Kaifiyat Express in Uttar Pradesh, nine coaches, and the locomotive of Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express derailed near Asangaon in Maharashtra on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place at around 6:40 am between Asangaon and Vasind stations on the Central Railway.

“There are no injuries reported. Our senior officials and doctors are there at the site. We are arranging buses to bring people from.the site,” said Sunil Udasi, Chief PRO, CR.

A rescue team was rushed from Kalyan. The officials said that local train services from Kasara to Kalyan (towards CSMT) have been affected, thus causing inconvenience to commuters in the morning peak hours.

There are three stations between Kasara and Vasind from where people are mostly affected. The incident comes at a time when the Indian Railways is reeling due to a series of tragedies.

On August 25, CSMT-Andheri local train derailed at Mahim that injured 6 commuters. On August 22, three boulders fell on and inside the coaches of Hubli-LTT express near Monkeyhill.

Last week, taking moral responsibility for the train accidents, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu had indicated that he had offered to quit saying, Prime Minister had asked him to wait.
