Politics on a plate: Arvind Kejriwal to meet Kamal Haasan over lunch today in Chennai

Last week, Haasan revealed his plan to launch his own political party by the end of September.

Politics of Tamil Nadu looks all set to get some ripples from Delhi as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is likely to meet Kamal Haasan over lunch today (Thursday) in Chennai. According to reports, this meeting is a political one which would shed light on Kamal Haasan’s future moves as he is preparing to enter politics. In Tamil Nadu, film actors have played a key role in changing the direction of mainstream politics for five decades and this meeting could also have larger ramifications for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal who is looking for a larger role in national Opposition space.

Last week, Haasan revealed his plan to launch his own political party by the end of September. The local body elections will be held in November 2017.

Not much is known about the exact agenda of the meeting, but media reports claim it will be political in nature.

Kejriwal, who’s back in Delhi after 10-days of Vipassana meditation camp in Maharashtra’s Igatpuri,

will leave for Chennai in the morning, revealed sources in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reports Zee News. The duo will meet at the star’s Alwarpet residence. Haasan, who reportedly called up the Chief Minister, has organised an elaborate lunch.

In the past few weeks, the veteran actor Haasan has publicly spoken up against the ruling AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu. He also called the ouster of AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala as a “solid step forward.”
