Telangana: In yet another crime reported against women, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped consecutively for seven days by six youths. All six accused have been arrested, four of them were engineering students and three were minors. The incident happened in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.

Reportedly, the victim had run away from home in Guntur to meet her friend in Ongole district after she had a fight with her mother over a petty issue.

According to a report in The Times of India (TOI), the incident came to light after a home guard saw the girl at the Ongole bus station, where the accused had dumped after committing the heinous crime on Saturday. The guard immediately alerted the ‘Shakti team’ about the incident.

Meanwhile, the victim was in a state of deep shock and she was counselled by the cops after which she narrated her ordeal to them. The police officials told TOI that the girl had recently befriended a car driver, who was identified as Ammisetti Ramu. He was employed where her grandfather was being treated at a local hospital.

On June 15, she had an argument with her mother over constantly chatting with Ramu and irked over mother’s objection on using the phone, she ran from her house to meet him, cops added. Prakasam district Superintendent of police, Sidharth Kaushal told TOI that Ramu did not turn up and the girl could not reach his phone as well. The girl then went to a nearby store for charging her phone, where the 20-year-old physically challenged, shop owner lured her saying that he knew Ramu and she could stay for the night in the room attached to the store.

The TOI report further mentioned that the girl was then abused by the shop owner who later invited his other friends to the place. They raped her repeatedly for seven days and then on June 22 they dumped her at the bus station.

However, the police have booked six accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POCSO) Act. Further probe in the case is underway.
