PUNJAB GOVT COMMITTED FOR WELFARE OF VALMIKI COMMUNITY: BHARAT BHUSHAN ASHU

Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister, today said that the Capt Amarinder Singh led Congress government in the state is committed for the welfare of the Valmiki community. He said that several welfare schemes have been started for betterment and upliftment of the Dalit Samaj and lakhs of people are availing full benefit of these schemes.

Mr Ashu was honoured by the members of Valmiki Samaj Maha Panchayat during a function held in Ghumar Mandi area, here today. The Cabinet Minister also interacted with the members of Valmiki community and listened to their grievances.

While speaking on the occasion, Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that he holds the highest regard for the members of Valmiki community because of their hardworking nature. He said that members from the Valmiki community are backbone of city’s development as thousands of them are employed in Municipal Corporation Ludhiana. He said that ever since his days as a Municipal Councillor, he has been actively associated with the members of Valmiki community.

Mr Ashu said that it is the Congress party that has stood firmly with the Valmiki community for several decades. Before the meeting, he also paid obeisance at the Valmiki Mandir in Ghumar Mandi area. Later, he also interacted with the members of Valmiki community, listened to their grievances and assured that all their problems would be resolved on priority basis.

Mr Samay Singh Birla, President, Valmiki Samaj Maha Panchayat, thanked Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu for his efforts for the upliftment and betterment of Valmiki community. He said that it is the Congress party that has always safeguarded the rights of Valmiki’s. He said that the entire Valmiki community is thankful of Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Punjab Government as well as the Congress party for their efforts towards their betterment.

Yesterday, Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu was honoured by the All India Bhagwan Valmiki Sewa Dal for his continuous efforts towards the upliftment of Dalit Samaj. He was also presented with a photograph of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mr Gurpreet Singh Gogi, Chairman, Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC), Mr Harpreet Singh Nanda, President, SC BC Cell, Mr Arun Gogla, Mr Om Parkash, Mr Satpal, Mr Laxman Tank, Mr Jatinder Kumar, Mr Satinder Lahoria, Mr Rajesh Kumar, besides several others.
