Priyanka Kanwar Sethi is a top makeup artist in Ludhiana and the proud owner of her luxurious makeup studio. In very few years, she has built a strong name in the field, with several high profile names and fashion shows as her clients. Her personal success mantra is about doing the things she love, and remaining grounded in her family values.
Host Rachita Gupta interviews Priyanka Kanwar Sethi, an established woman of her own making, and delves into her journey towards success and win-ship.

What would you say has been your greatest achievement?
This! The excitement of a self-owned business, having earned a good following, and just the joy of being an artist- a celebrity makeup artist now- is all a wonderful success. I’m my own boss here, and it is easily one of the best decisions I have made.
What do you describe as a low point in your career?
Oh, I have been so lucky in this aspect- there’s hardly anything I would call a low point in life. When I got engaged, I gave up my dreams of a Ph. D. For few months after that, I was neither studying nor working. That was the time I discovered that I cannot live a life without work. That lapse made me feel like I wasn’t being myself, and my energy felt negative.
What has been the greatest challenge in building your career?
I have two very young daughters- keeping up my professional life, while ensuring I provide enough for their educational needs, their personal demands, the ‘mommy time’… That is something I juggle every single day. Maintaining the balance is tough.
(I smile) This is a very common answer among women entrepreneurs today.
(Laughs) Yes, yes it is. I have been fortunate, though- my support system is strong and unbreakable. It is more helpful than I can describe.
How do you define success?
Success is what you achieve with your own hard work. It counts not just as money, but also the appreciation you find among your people. When someone calls you a role model, and you can say you’ve touched a life somewhere, that is pure success.

What are your big plans for the next 5 years?
I would like to expand to many more branches beyond Ludhiana, and bring high-end beauty treatments to places that have not had a taste of it yet.
What would you call your life essentials?
The basic, grounding principle of being a good human. It includes being a good wife, a good mother, and of course, a good boss- fulfilling all your capabilities in the best way.
Do you have a message for young girls of India? –
Never stop training, working hard. Don’t forget that you are an important part of building your country- don’t ever stop dreaming. Work with dedication, no matter what you do.
Vision of Smart City Ludhiana–
Things have been changing for better, certainly. However, one peeve I have against the city is the traffic. We’ve got to drive better, have stricter traffic rules, and ensure that people follow them. It ruins the city experience when the roads aren’t safe to navigate.
