Income Tax Dept. gives hands-on training of ITR filing to Taxation students

Students of XI and XII Taxation (CBSE Skill Subject) from BCM Arya Model Sr. Sec. School, Ludhiana visited the Ministerial Staff Training Unit, Income Tax Department at Grand Walk, Ludhiana. They were accompanied by their subject teachers in Taxation and Accountancy. The primary objective was to acquaint the students with the relevant legal compliances of Income tax and impart practical knowledge relating to Online and Offline filing of Income Tax Returns.

Sh. Kailash Lakhera, Income Tax Officer, addressed the students. He discussed the important provisions of Income Tax and also described the system of taxation that prevailed before the independence. He explained them the procedures related to search and seizure followed by the Income Tax Department. He also shared some of his experiences with the students which kept them engrossed in the subject. Sh. D.N. Sinha, Income Tax Inspector, familiarized the students with the e-filing portal of Income tax. He also gave them a virtual tour of online filing of ITRs and various forms and procedures related to it. They were explained about Refunds, Demands, Assessments, TDS, AIS, Form 16, Form AS 26, Faceless Assessments, etc. The inquisitive students raised their queries related to TDS, Tax Slabs, deductions and tax planning. The budding learners were then escorted to the office of Sh. Amit Jain, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS). He explained the students about various departments of Income tax and the career opportunities in Taxation. He also encouraged the students to join the esteemed profession and to spread awareness related to taxation  among general public.            

Faculty members of Commerce dept., Mrs. Inderpreet Kaur and Mrs. Monica Makkar, thanked  the Income Tax officials for the informative session. Such visits help the students  learn beyond the books and provide a platform to participate in the open discussions outside the classroom with the professionals. Mrs. Anuja Kaushal, principal of the school appreciated the CFS Dept. for this  initiative which will help boost the confidence of the students and empower them for skill development in Taxation.
