Terrorists stormed the house of a young Kashmiri BSF jawan, who was on leave, and fired indiscriminately, killing him and injuring three members of his family at Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
This is a chilling reminder of the killing of Kashmiri officer Lt. Umar Faiyaz who was abducted from a wedding, brutally tortured and killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in May 2017.
The latest incident occurred late on Wednesday evening when heavily-armed terrorists barged into the house of Rameez Ahmad Parrey, 33, and tried to abduct him. His family members resisted and tried to stop the terrorists who fired upon them. All the injured were shifted to hospital where Parrey was declared dead on arrival.
“Terrorists entered the house of a BSF man who had come on leave. They fired at him and his family members,” Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, Senior SP, Bandipora, told DNA.
“Four of the family members including Rameez were injured. They were rushed to hospital where Rameez succumbed,” he added.
Police sources said it seems to be a revenge attack by militants given the fact that on Tuesday security forces had cordoned off the area and launched search operations following inputs about the presence of militants in that area.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and a massive hunt has been launched to track down the militants responsible for the attack. Reinforcements have been rushed to the area to augment the forces on the ground.
The attack comes four months after militants abducted 22 year old Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz of Rajputana Riffles from the residence of his maternal uncle in Batpora village of Shopian district where he had gone to attend the marriage of his cousin sister on May 10. He was taken to the neighboring Harmain village where he was shot dead.
Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz was again in news last week after India at the UN flashed his photo to counter the propaganda of Pakistani permanent member Maleeha Lodhi who passed of the picture of a Palestinian girl as a Kashmir pellet victim
