Five bike-borne armed assailants looted around Rs. 45,000 in cash by snatching a bag from the Indira Gas Agency employees in Preet Vihar, Street No. 21, Shimlapuri, on Tuesday.
ADCP Sandeep Sharma and SHO Shimlapuri Davinder Singh rushed to the spot and started the probe.
ADCP Sharma said employees of the gas agency had stationed their tractor trolley laden with gas cylinders at the gas distribution point, when five persons on two motorcycles, a Royal Enfield and a Bajaj Platina, suddenly came and pointed guns at the employees. One of the armed men snatched the bag containing cash worth Rs. 44,700. Before leaving the spot, robbers fired gun shots in the air.
The accused also injured one salesman by hitting him with some sharp weapon. The salesman was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Gas agency owner Ranjit said four employees of the agency namely Pritpal Singh, Chotey Lal, Hira Lal and Manoj had gone to deliver cylinders, when they met with the tragedy. Hira Lal who was carrying the bag, sustained sharp cut on his arm.
“We scanned several CCTV cameras and in one of the cameras, near the spot, two bike-borne have been captured with clear images. Our teams are on the job to trace the culprits,” said Shimlapuri SHO Inspector Davinder Singh.
An empty .32 cartridge was also recovered from the spot, which was fired in the air by the robbers.
A case of loot against the unidentified bike borne was registered at the Shimlapuri police station.
