Local shooter Rachit Arora (20), grabbed two gold medals in 10m air pistol junior men and senior men category in the 52nd Punjab State Shooting Championship which were played at Punjab Armed Police Shooting Range, Jalandhar from July 19-21. Rachit was selected for the pre-national shooting championship which will begin from mid August at Kerala.
While speaking to CNI, Rachit said, “I started practicing this game five to six years ago. I have secured numerous medals at district level competitions. This is for the first time that I have secured two gold medals participating in two different categories at state level shooting competition. Now, I have been selected for the pre-national championship which will held at Kerala. My parents played a supportive role throughout my game and kept on inspiring me each day.”
“My aim is to win gold medal for my country in the Olympic as Abhinav Bindra in 2008 Beijing Olympics,” he further added.
Rachit’s coach, Aditya Sewak, said, “As result of his hard work he bagged two gold medals in the state level championship. He brought laurels not only for his family but for the city as well. I am sure about that he will seal his place in the national team soon.”
