It is a feat in itself that SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which hit screens on April 28 last year, is still making headlines a year later. The film, which stars Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubatti, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Nassar, Sathyaraj in key roles, will soon release in China. While it got passed by the censor certificate last month, we finally have the release date. Baahubali 2 will hit the theatres in China on May 4. The film’s first part, Baahubali: The Beginning had earned USD 123 million in China (lifetime) and we can only expect the second part to break the records of the first installment.
What makes this more achievable is the fact that the film follows on the heels of films like Aamir Khan’s Dangal, Secret Superstar, Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Irrfan Khan’s Hindi Medium, which have been successful. The anticipation to watch Indian films is high after the recent releases and it will only help built the buzz around Baahubali: The Conclusion.
The film was specially cut for the China audience, and the makers of the magnum opus had roped in famed editor of The Incredible Hulk, Vincent Tabaillon to edit the international cut of the sequel. According to reports the film will get more screens that Baahubali: The Beginning, which had released in 6000 screens. Baahubali 2 has been one of the greatest hits to come from the Indian film industry. Apart from smashing box office records and making new, insurmountable ones, the film also helped make Tollywood heartthrobs Prabhas and Rana Daggubati household names with the non-Telugu movie audience as well.
While the makers already have an occasion to celebrate the one year anniversary of Baahubali 2 on April 28, we are sure there will be more reasons to make merry once Baahubali: The Conclusion hits theatres in China on May 4. We cannot wait to see his make some new records at China Box Office.
