The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing a tough challenge in all three Lok Sabha seats of Gorakhpur, Phulpur and Araria where bypolls took place on Sunday. In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is trailing behind Samajwadi Party (SP) in Yogi Adityanath’s pocketborough Gorakhpur as well as in Phulpur, which it had won in 2014 General Elections.In Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the BJP are neck-and-neck for Araria Lok Sabha seat. Counting of votes for three Lok Sabha seats, Gorakhpur and Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar’s Araria, and two assembly seats in Bhabua and Jehanabad of Bihar, began on Wednesday amid tight security arrangements.
