39 Teams presented their World Class Practices in CICU 14th National Kaizen Competition

The 14th Edition of the Kaizen Competition was successfully held at Sohan Lal Pahwa Auditorium, CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana.

Kaizen is a Japanese word belonging to the business philosophy of continuous improvement of working practices, personal efficiency, etc. Kaizen is applicable in all business processes including manufacturing and engineering with an emphasis on improving productivity on an ongoing basis.

  1. Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICUsaid that Kaizen has been proven to bring quantum benefits to the company and employees whilst simplifying processes, eliminating waste, saving costs, and other intangible benefits. It is a fact that the best ideas are born from the exchange and sharing of knowledge and experience. He further saidthat the objective of this Competition is to motivate for practicing KAIZEN & make it a way of LIFE. This Event provided the opportunity to understand the philosophies, listen to Companies who have successfully developed Kaizen as a culture, and also provided a competitive Arena to witness and share the best Kaizen implemented.

Sh. J.S Bhogal, Organizing Secretary, CICU informed us about the importance of organizing competitions for learning other industrial units. He further said that the response, to this Competition is overwhelming, both from participating teams and attending delegates, as well as Trade & Industrial bodies in the region that have been enthusiastic in their support. Experienced employees of 39 Teams presented their Kaizen in front of more than 250 audiences.

Sh. S.B Singh, Joint Secretary, CICU made efforts for this event to make it successful and coordinated with the teams. He also gave them valuable suggestions to improve their presentation and healthy working in the industries.

Mr. Osamu Shimada, Dy. M.D. Panasonic Smart factory Solution from Japan and Mr. Chang Ming Tsai, JATO Precision Industries Inc. from Taiwan both graced the event as Chief Guests and distributed the prizes to the participating teams.

The competition was judged by jury members comprising eminent professionals i.e. Dr. Sachit Vardhan Deputy Dean of Research, C.T. University, Dr. Sanjeev Katoch, G.M., Institute For Auto Parts and hand-tools Technology, Mr. D.S. Gojra, Manager Heat Treatment, Central Tool Room and Sh. Papinder Singh, Assistant manager, R & D Center, Ludhiana.

The Program was organized with the support of M/s Sangeeta Steel Corporation (TATA Astrum) and Uniparts Group Ludhiana.

The companies from PAN INDIA participated were Kay-Jay Forgings, Highway Industries, SKG Engg. Co., Farmparts Company, Saint Gobain India Pvt. Ltd., Bhiwadi, Bellrise Industries Ltd., Aurangabad, Havells India Ltd. Solan, Sietz Technologies, Faridabad, Pritika Auto Industries, Una, Steel Strip Wheels Pvt. Ltd., Tech-Auto Pvt. Ltd., Happy Forgings, Nicks India Tools, SECO Chucks, Auto International, Moonlight Auto Pvt. Ltd., SAL Automotive Ltd., Nabha, Kanin (India), Hero Cycles, Poddar Tyres, G.S Auto International, Kangaroo Tools, Metro Tyres Ltd., Mahindra SEL Mohali, Kangaro Industries Ltd., TRB Group and Mahindra Swaraj.
