- OFFICIALS’ TEAM ALSO TAKE STOCK OF WORK ON LEISURE VALLEY
LUDHIANA, April 4 (CNI): To ensure proper rehabilitation of slum dwellers in Rajiv Gandhi colony and Khokha Market colony in Ward-21 and 23, a team led by MLA Sanjay Talwar, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, Ludhiana MC Commissioner Jaskiran Singh, Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) EO Navraj Brar, along with other officials held a meeting with the residents and talked about their shifting to the flats constructed in Dhandari Kalan and Mundia Kalan areas.
Later, the MLA, DC, MC Commissioner and officials also took the stock of the construction of flats.
MLA Sanjay Talwar said that though the work of electricity is almost on the completion in the flats, a detailed program would be charted out to systematically shifting of the residents in the flats. He claimed that within two months, the slum dwellers would be shifted to the flats.
Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has built around 1200 flats in these areas for the shifting of the slum dwellers from the shanties they are living. The land on which shanties had come up in the past, belongs to GLADA.
Moreover, MLA, DC, MC Commissioner and others also visited the site at where leisure valley is coming up on 23-acre land that comes under the wards 9,10,11,12,13 and 1 at the cost of Rs 8 crore. Later, it was decided that a committee would be formed to speed up the construction work.
The committee would include Zonal Commissioner Zone-B, SDM East, MTP MC, Superintendent Engineer Improvement Trust, Executive Engineer B and R and area councillors.
